Frank Lamar Mentzy was born the son of the late Frank Joseph Mentzy and the late Beatrice Smalls Simmons in New York, NY on August 7, 1945. He departed this earthy life while in the care of the Veteran's Administration Hospice Center, Durham, NC.
Frank attended schools in New York and post graduation, he enlisted into the United States Navy and served valiantly in Vietnam. He was a dedicated Coordinator of Job Development with the Jewish Federation. He utilized his talents to assist many young men and women obtain jobs, by assisting them with their resume preparation as well as being dressed the part. He was truly investing into the many lives of men and women. Frank loved to play cards and you knew when he was winning and he loved to sit back and read a good book also. He enjoyed sports so much so, he had a received a Basketball Scholarship, however he chose to fight for our country. Many years ago he was involved with the masonry and was a Past Worshipful Master.
He leaves loving and lasting memories to his devoted and loving wife: Elaine Griffis Mentzy; 5 daughters: Joy Wilson, Lisa Charlton, Tiffany Presley (Terrance), Angela Griffis and Deneen Griffis-Brown; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two siblings: Dennis B. Smalls and Joann Mouzon as well as nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
He now joins his parents and daughter Monique Gary and granddaughter: Ambra Gary.
