Edward Eugene Beasley, 68 of Burlington, NC passed away on December 28, 2019. He was born on April 12, 1951 to Frank and Lorena Nichols Beasley. He was the 8th son and the 15th child.
Growing up he was known to have a quiet spirit and a loveable smile. His siblings believed him to be Momma’s favorite, which led to him being very spoiled. As time passed he continued to be a humble man who would literally give you the shirt off his back. If there was any way he could help you, he would or he’d help you find someone who could. He enjoyed family, friendship and fun. Dancing was his joy. He was also notoriously known for that big beautiful wonderful smile, if you ever knew him it was impossible to miss.
He attended Sweet Gum Elementary School in Caswell County, then he graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School, Yanceyville NC, in 1970. After High School at Cone Mills in Haw River. In 1971 he entered Basic Training for the United States Army. He left for Germany in 1972. He ended his service in 1976. One of his slogans was “Once a Solider, Always a Solider”.
Later he worked for the University of Chapel Hill on their campus. After the birth of his son, he took a job as a mover with United Van Line who became known as Hilldrup Van Lines of Durham, NC. He remained there until his retirement and continued to work with the company part time due to a great reputation of being a hard-working reliable person.
In 1978, he married Carol S. Lea Parker and remained married to her passing in June of 2006. Together they raised three children.
He leaves loving and lasting memories to his children: Anthony Beasley and Debra Parker; 6 stepchildren: Scottie Poole, Barry Leath, Michael Badges, Linda Cates (Maurice), Deborah Badges an Tonya "Bam" Cutler (Ryan); special daughter: Gala Johnson; seven siblings: Bertha C. Rogers, Margaret Royster, Flossie Poteat, Abraham Beasley, Floyd Beasley, Elaine Beasley McCauley and Anne Torain; 3 grandchildren; two special grandchildren: Tia and Katelyn Woods; 8 great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren.
