A TIME TO BE BORN….

Donnella Rogers Ratliff was born on February 29, 1964 in Chapel Hill, NC to the late Mozella Mauldin Rogers and Gerry (Bill) Rogers.  She was the oldest of two siblings.  She was a graduate of Southern Alamance High School. 

A TIME TO PLANT AND A TIME TO PLUCK THAT WHICH IS PLANTED… 

On June 30, 1984, Donnella was united in holy matrimony to Dwight O. Ratliff. To this union, they were blessed with one son, Nicholas D. Ratliff.  She always showed a wealth of love, appreciation and happiness for family which was her greatest joy.  “Donnie”, as she was fondly known, loved to cook and prepared many meals, especially her chicken and dumplings for Nicholas’ Sunday dinner.   She enjoyed family gathering and just sitting down for a good conversation.  Donnella worked with the Alamance-Burlington School for over 25 years where she interacted with students and encouraged them to stay on the right path.   

LABOR, AS IT IS A GIFT OF GOD… 

Donnella began her Christian growth at Burnett’s Chapel Christian Church, Graham, NC.    She worked in various ministries including the Women of Witness, Pastor’s Aid, Food Drive and Kitchen Committee.  She enjoyed listening to gospel music and expressed this through her participation in the Gospel Choir.  Her perseverance and positive attitude allowed attendance until her health progressively declined. 

A TIME TO DIE.... 

God saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb; He gently closed her loving eyes and whispered, “Peace be thine”. 

After an extensive and strenuous battle, Donella was called home to rest on May 19, 2017.  She fought a good fight and stuck with her battle to the very end. 

A TIME TO Mourn.... 

Donnella was preceded in death by her mother, Mozella.  She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a dedicated husband, Dwight, a loving son, Nicholas, father, Bill Rogers, brother, Christopher (Jenny) Rogers, mother-in-law, Lorene Ratliff, and a host of very special and supportive nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
