On October 8, 1923 Artelia Lee Woods Degraffenreidt, was born to the late Jack and Mary Polly Albright Woods in Orange County, North Carolina. She was one of five children. Her journey ended surrounded by her family on October 30, 2019.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Clarence Degraffenreidt on July 10, 1955 and to this union a son, Reginald was born.
She received her education from the Orange County School Systems and was a graduate of Central High School. She began her career in the Food Service Industry and retired from the Child Nutrition Department of the Orange County School System.
Artelia joined Hunter's Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church at an early age. Durning her lifetime of membership she served in various ministries and truly loved her service as the president of the Usher's Board.
In addition to her loving husband and dear parents, she was preceded in death by her all her siblings: Joseph Woods, Julia Woods Cousin, Rose Woods Prunty, and James Woods.
She leaves loving and lasting memories to her devoted and caring son: Reginald K. Degraffenreidt (Eldner) of Durham, North Carolina; a grandson: Braxton George Edward Degraffenreidt of Durham, North Carolina; five nieces: Gladys Hoke of Plainfield, New Jersey, Clevolia Cousin of Mebane, North Carolina, Carrie Grady (Paul) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Pnelphia Blakely of Oakland, California and Shirley Burns of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers-in-law: Redell Degraffenreidt and Thaddeus Jeffries both of Burlington, North Carolina; four sisters-in-law: Bernice Degraffenreidt of Washington, D.C., Pauline Degraffenreidt of Graham, North Carolina, Yvonne Degraffenreidt of Raleigh, North Carolina and Wilma S. Degraffenreidt as well as a host of nieces and nephews through six generations other relatives and dear friends.
