Mrs. Willie Odell Malone Poteat, 81 of 2156 Carter Rd. transitioned on June 23, 2017 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Coy D. Malone and Lucy Florence Malone and was the widow of the late Robert M. Poteat.

            She is survived by her 4 children: Donald Poteat, Claudia Hadley and twins: Katherine Slade (Mark) and Karen Johnson (Barry); sister: Margaret M. Harris; 7 grandchildren: Michelle Poteat, Maurice Ruffin (Karah), Ebony Slade, Denzel Wynn, Kala Slade, Mark Slade, II and Bryson Tucker; 5 great-grandchildren: Kavon Poteat, Serenity NeSmith, Kristiana Ruffin, Kyndal Ruffin and Mari Wynn; step-grandson: Barry Johnson, Jr.; god-daughter: Beverly Willis (Timothy); god son: Don Pinnix; 3 god-grandchildren: Natassja Bigelow, Rashad Bigelow and Mekhi Bigelow; two-sisters-in-law: Maude B. Malone and Susie Malone.

            She was preceded in death by her brothers: Ernest Malone and Weldon Malone. 

            She was a Food service management retiree with Broadview Middle School and most recently Blakey Hall Senior Community.  She was a devoted member of Sweet Gum Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
