Mr. John Lee Russell, 82 of 2248 George Russell Road, passed away February 17, 2017 at Cone Health-Alamance Regional Medical Center after a year of declining health and two weeks of critical illness.

He was the son of the late George Russell Sr. and the Sallie Bell Watlington Russell. Survivors include, two sisters; Louise Russell of the home, Mary Russell Slade of Yanceyville, NC; four brothers, Edward Russell (Ruby) of Efland, NC, Gartha Russell, Lacie Russell of Yanceyville, NC, and Joseph Russell of the home, one foster sister, Ethel Brooks of Yanceyville, NC, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, many cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers; George Russell Jr, Willie Thomas Russell, Charlie Monroe Russell, foster brother Houston Brooks, and foster nephew Keith Brooks.

John enjoyed years on his dad’s farm gardening, farming, fishing, and sawmilling. He spent numerous hours teaching his nieces and nephews how to farm. He was a very kind and generous person who never met a stranger.
