Mrs. Irene Frances Allen Cummings 88 of 2720 Barrington, Rd. transitioned on June 28, 2017 at White Oak Manor.  She was the daughter of the late George Allen and the late Harriet “Hattie” Haith Allen and she was the wife of the late Mr. William M. Cummings.

She was a member of Martin’s Chapel Baptist Church and retired from the Elon school system.

She is survived by her children: William Cummings, George Cummings (Vanessa), Evelyn E. Cummings Cromartie, Joan C. Shoffner, Cheryl Bowden (Keith); 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by a son Elder Larry D. Cummings, Sr. “Butch”
