SSgt. (Ret). Curtis Iziah Latta, 81 of 302 Giles St., transitioned on October 15, 2016 at his home.  He was the son of the late James Max Latta and the late Novella Kenion Latta.  He retired from the United States Army after 28 years of service.

He is survived by his daughters: Sonya Latta (Marvin Walton) and Leslie Robinson; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and two brothers: Jones Gilbert Latta and Clifton Eugene Latta (Louise).

He was preceded in death by brothers: James Rufus Latta, Robert Max Latta, Bernard Lee Latta and Billy Joseph Latta.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Johnson’s Chapel AME Church and the family will greet relatives and friends an hour prior to the services. All other times the family will be at the home of his daughter Sonya, 5025 Governor Martin St., Efland.  Interment will follow the services in the Legion Section of North Lawn Cemetery.  Public viewing will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 1-9 pm.
