He was the son of the late Rev. Hubert Currie and the late Mrs. Elizabeth Haith Currie.
He is survived by his wife: Pattie Tate Currie; two daughters: Angela Perkins (Rev. Kenneth) and Diana Haith (Michael); 4 grandchildren: Kenan Perkins; Jamar Burton, Destiny Perkins and Camille Haith; 4 siblings: Leo Currie (Edith), Dorothy Corbett (Dewey), Helen Tyner and Betty Currie and sister-in-law: Annie Currie.
He was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Currie.
"Bird-Dog" was a 1970 graduate of Eastern Alamance High School and a member of Belview Baptist Church.
